First Horizon naming rights for former Greensboro Coliseum Complex

From now on, the Greensboro Coliseum Complex will be known as First Horizon Coliseum, under a “historic” first naming rights of the 65-year old landmark multipurpose sports, entertainment, exhibition and aquatic complex. 

On the main arena floor, Greensboro Mayor Nancy Vaughan announced the partnership with the Memphis, Tenn.-based regional financial institution, which will invest $1 million annually for the next dozen years, securing the naming rights for the facilities along Gate City Blvd. near the campus of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. First Horizon operates in 12 states, with 418 branches, two of which are in Greensboro. 

Vaughan and other officials said First Horizon’s investment will enhance the facilities, a key income producing-entity for the city and area businesses benefit from sports and entertainment activities. 

Until October 1, the former Greensboro Coliseum Complex, which is city owned and privately managed by the Oak View Group, which operates arenas, stadiums, conventional centers, musical festivals and performing arts centers.
